Barry and his group are back from their Nepal adventure and all agreed it was not only a great trip, but a real eye-opener as to how well off we are here in Australia. Many of the group are keen to go back again.
The group trekked in the foothills of the highest mountains in the world and took time to enjoy some Tai Chi when the mood took them. Even the guide and Sherpas joined in and appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Twenty two Nepalese were employed to look after the group for the trek and they did a magnificent job.

On completion of the trek, the group travelled to the Chitwan National Park and the close guidance of very knowledgeable guides, undertook elephant rides, bird watching and 4WD excursions. The highlight of the elephant safari was the close encounter with the endangered one-horned black rhino and Gaur or Indian Bison. There is estimated to be less than 1,000 Gaur worldwide and less than 3,000 Indian Rhinoceros. A number of other species of wildlife were also sighted while perched high on the elephant back.

And then there was the shopping. The group did their bit for the local economy and came back with an assortment of paraphernalia. Keep your eye out around town and you might see some interesting and colourful clothing.
There will be a slide evening soon and there is already discussion about another trip next year so stay tuned.
