Welcome to your August eNewsletter! Thank you to the wonderful members that came to the Christmas in July dinner at the end of last month, it was certainly fun to catch up with you all again. The feedback was really positive from the night, so we will definitely be organising more get togethers in the near future. 2/3 of Winter is now behind us and the warmer weather approaching, so are you ready to Spring into Fitness?
We're Nominated In The Australian Fitness Industry Awards!
Congratulations to the team and all members of the club as we have been nominated in the very prestigious Fitness Australia Awards. Not bad for a little 40 Plus Queanbeyan health club is it!
We are nominated in the most competitive category 'Fitness Business < 2000 Members Award' but I am sure we will give it a shake. It means that we are compared to every medium sized health club, small fitness studio and personal training business in Australia but with the dedication and commitment everyone has shown in the past year, we are definitely a chance.
The National Award winners will be announced at the Australian Health & Fitness Industry Awards Gala Dinner on Friday 22nd October 2010 in Melbourne. We will keep you up to date on our progress...
Nutrition Seminar!
Local food guru Eucale Stanes will be joining us to provide an informative and interactive seminar on nutrition later this month. Eucale is both an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and an Accredited Nutritionist. She will be discussing all things nutritional but with a particular focus on snack food options and how to accurately read food labels.

Super Star Results for Max!
Max is our August Super Star! He has also gone from waking up 8-10 times a night and sleeping in the other room due to his loud and constant snoring - to enjoying a comfortable 6-8 hours of relaxing and quiet sleep a night. He has changed his diet to predominantly salads and fresh fruit, steak (once a week), lasagne, plenty of water and cut out sugar at every opportunity.
He is a true inspiration to us all and just proves what a bit of commitment can do. Max works out and makes healthy choices on a daily basis now. Say hi to him when you see him in the club. Well done Max!

Some Exciting News For Diane!
Diane started the club with us 3 years ago and managed the club herself for over twelve months before Brendon took over last year. Since late 2009 she has been working in a part time capacity with us and part time with the Heart Foundation. Her evolution in the club is now complete with a move into a more strategic role focusing on staff training, member seminars and specialised programs.
This means that she will no longer be doing her personal training shift with next Tuesday 10th August being her last shift and her last Pilates class on Friday 13th August. She will spend the next week or so updating the team on her clients, to ensure a smooth transition and Damien (Exercise Physiologist) from Vibe next door will be taking over the Pilates classes as of 20th August.
Diane has done a great job for everyone involved in the club and will continue to provide discounted HeartMoves classes, as well as ensure that her positive fingerprint stays on the club with her new strategic role. Wish her well when you see her next.
Good Luck In The City2Surf!
Linda Staples and David Atkinson are another two inspirational members of the club that are heading to Sydney for the City2Surf run on Sunday 8th of August. It seems that their weekly personal training sessions are paying off and both are in good form for the event. They participated in the Mothers Day Classic back in May with Linda running the 10km in just over an hour. We wish them well and hope to have a large group from the club joining them next year. Jono says he is training some potential in the Tuesday night classes every week...
